Jim and Liz lived some 150 m up the road from the new location. They purchase the Original art deco house as an investment to which they would recreate their own dream for their new life after work.
We met Jim and Liz through my father and helped create the house which now sits beautifully under the natural canopy of a large eucalyptus trees and magnificent gardens created by Liz – one of her major passions.
From day one both Liz and Jim wanted to create a slice of individual character and charm to their new home. Not wanting a modern style home their wish was for a modern living style with old worldly characters. A house that blended with the streetscape and presented a 100-year-old charm to the neighbourhood.
Jims job meant he was travelling extensively throughout the world during the build, it was important that we both grew a high level of trust from day one to help create their dream. This was achieved through constant site meetings, house visits to discuss changes and requirements from them both for the coming months ahead. Liz was wonderful to work with, taking over the reigns and
controlling the build, she was focused on the finished product and knew exactly what she and Jim wanted.
Liz originally from the UK wanted pieces of her memory in her new home, characteristics of her home country blended with Australian design and concepts. From dark walnut wide floorboards to marble bathrooms, a hand built and painted English Kitchen, open trussed roof to the family room and a beautiful staircase and library in the centre of the home.
With careful construction we came in under budget and on time with their requirements.
